Monday, December 28th-Reading Day:
(Hooked on Books)

Picture
When is the last time that the whole family gathered in the same room and read? The purpose of Reading Day is to stress the benefits from reading the words on a page. Yes, let's spread the word that reading can be imaginative, relaxing, informative, mysterious, humorous, and much more.

Suggestions

Engage in family reading activities for at least 3 hours. This can be broken up into reading sessions (e.g., six 30 minute sessions, or 3 one hour sessions).

Have each family member read something to everyone (a story, news article, letter, etc).

Read something where each family member alternates reading parts or lines (e.g., a play or skit, a book with different characters, etc).

Independent silent reading in the same room.

Important: Discuss what was read

What does reading mean to you? (Share your responses in our Family Observance Week Blog or the Contact Us tab!)

                         R = Riveting and Remarkable
